Thomas Davies

1812 - 1890

Thomas Davies (1812)
Mary Ann Jones

Thomas was born 7 April 1812 to Hannah Letitia Davies and Thomas Lloyd.

Thomas was a shoemaker and a dyer.  In 1834, he married Mary Simmonds.  He was also an early convert to the LDS faith in Shrewsbury.  His home is listed as a meeting place in an article in the Millennial Star.

Thomas left England in late 1848 and landed in New Orleans in early 1849.  We don't know what happened between Thomas and Mary Simmonds, but she did not go to America and died later that year in England.

While in New Orleans, Thomas met Mary Ann Jones, a widow with three children.  They were married on 8 Dec 1850 in New Orleans.

They made their way to St Louis, where their first child, Letitia was born on 21 Nov 1851.  In May of 1852, the family left St. Louis with two yoke of oxen and two cows.  They arrived in Utah 22 September 1852.

They settled in Fillmore, where Thomas Jr was born in 1854.  Their third child, Melissa, was born there in 1857.

Thomas died on 2 Aug 1890 in Fillmore and was buried the next day.
